Isn't it great to have your feet all soft, sloughed out and smelling like strawberries? A fun and easy project to indulge in during an idle weekend. Ingredients 8 strawberries 2 tbsp apricot kernel oil 1 tsp salt 1 tsp finely chopped almonds (or other nut varieties) Instructions With a fork, mash strawberries into a paste making sure not to overdo it as it can liquify too much. Mix in carrier oil, followed by salt and nuts. The mixture can be kept in the refrigerator for a week. To use, rub over feet then rinse off and dry. Moisturize with Hand and Heel Saver right before bed.
Waxing can be little bit of a mess in the beginning. But as you get the hang of it, you'll appreciate the finer hair re-growth and potential cost savings. Ingredients 1 cup brown sugar juice from 1/2 lemon 1/2 cup honey (vegans can buy vegetable glycerin from Phoon Huat & Co. as a substitute) cornstarch, if necessary spatula for spreading mixture any thin cotton fabric, cut into strips Instructions Melt sugar, honey and lemon juice in a pot over stove at low heat until you reach a smooth consistency. Make sure the area to be waxed is clean and dry. Dust a little cornstarch to draw out excess oil if necessary. Once the mixture lowers to a comfortable temperature, spread a thin layer over skin and 'paste' a cotton strip over, smoothening it out in the direction of hair growth. Holding your skin taut at one end, grab the same end of the cotton strip and rip it off quickly against the direction of hair growth, keeping it as close to your skin as possible. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize after cleaning! Note: Sugar mixture can be re-heated if it becomes too sticky for application. Use a little jojoba oil or warm soapy water to remove any excess sugar left on skin. Do not use on sensitive skin.
A weekly deep-conditioning treatment to maintain a head of shiny, healthy, fizz-free hair. Ingredients 1 tsp jojoba oil 5 drops rosemary essential oil Instructions Warm the jojoba oil for 10-15secs in a microwave. Be careful not to overheat the oil as it will lose all beneficial properties. Add rosemary essential oil and blend well. Dampen hair with warm water and gently massage the oil blend into your scalp for as long as you like. Then wrap your hair in a hot towel and leave on for 30mins. Shampoo and rinse with cold water. Note: It's not necessary to use up the whole amount as the oil blend stores well. Recipe by Alyssa Ho
